Ontario, Calif. – September 8, 2016 — The Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA) today announced the selection of Daniel E. Adamus as Chief Marketing Officer.
Adamus has more than three decades of diverse experience in domestic and international marketing, public affairs, advertising, strategic planning and product and organizational development. His aviation experience includes both airport and aircraft manufacturer clients.
The OIAA, a joint powers agency formed by the City of Ontario and the County of San Bernardino, is on track to assume ownership and control of Ontario International Airport (ONT) in the fourth quarter of 2016, subject to final Federal Aviation Administration approval.
Adamus, a Marine Corps veteran, will oversee the Authority’s marketing and community relations, government relations, stakeholder engagement and ambassador program. With his hiring, the OIAA has now filled out all of its senior leadership positions.
“Dan is a proven innovator who has delivered concrete results throughout his career,” said OIAA President and Ontario City Councilman Alan D. Wapner. “Now he’s going to apply his creativity and
experience to help craft our vision for ONT and translate that vision into powerful benefits for our customers and our community.”
“I am extremely pleased to have Dan joining our team as OIAA’s first chief marketing officer,” said OIAA CEO Kelly Fredericks. “He possesses one of the most diverse marketing, communications and public relations backgrounds I have ever seen, and his combination of global and domestic experience, seasoned with a broad understanding of the aviation industry, makes him the ideal choice to round out our senior leadership team.
“I expect him to play a significant leadership role as we work to ‘de- stealth’ Ontario International Airport.”
“I am honored to join the OIAA leadership team as the Authority’s first Chief Marketing Officer,” said Adamus. “I have been truly impressed with the dedicated and coordinated efforts of government, business and community leaders throughout the Inland Empire leading to the return of ONT to local control. I look forward to working together, along with everyone in the airport organization, as we strive to make ONT most customer-friendly facility possible and a preferred Southern California gateway.
“In addition to the potential for new routes and increased passenger traffic, the airport’s outstanding physical infrastructure can also serve as an economic engine for the region to attract and support cargo carriers, multi-modal logistics providers, integrators and other international companies seeking affordable, business-friendly access to and from the United States.”
Immediately prior to joining OIAA, Adamus served as president of Cape Coral, Fla.-based Strategic Marketing Corporate & Crisis Communications Solutions, International. Before that, he held high-level marketing and product management positions with companies in Florida, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
During his rich and varied career, he has spearheaded successful initiatives and ventures in global and domestic marketing and communications, media and investor relations, and corporate restructuring. In the aviation field, he helped secure funding for a runway extension and international trade center at Erie International Airport, Tom Ridge Field. He also provided strategic assistance to Airbus aircraft suppliers and helped the company’s top repair station maintain its commercial viability in the highly volatile, post 9/11 industry setting.
In 1993, at the dawn of the Internet age, Adamus helped design and launch GE’s website, which was the first fully functional website by a major corporation. He also has taught as an adjunct professor in the business school at Gannon University in Erie, Penn.
Adamus began his marketing career with the Marine Corps after graduating from the United States Naval Academy. He earned his Masters of Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. He will join the OIAA on September 13, 2016.
