TSA Expansion
Being able to quickly get from our parking lots to our gates is one reason ONT is So Cal. So Easy. So we’re working on a plan to keep wait times low and to make your travel journey even easier!
We are expanding and upgrading our Transportation Security Administration or TSA security area by adding additional screening lanes and new exit corridors. This will help passengers clear security faster and create a smoother travel experience for everyone, even as more passengers choose to fly through ONT.

The Ontario International Airport Authority Board of Commissioners approved plans to expand the TSA security screening area and, after a competitive bidding process, awarded a contract to CALTECH Corporation on February 27, 2025 to complete the work. The $11 million project is being completed with help from a $7 million grant ONT received from the Federal Aviation Authority or FAA in 2024.
Crews are adding two additional screening lanes in Terminal 2 and one in Terminal 4, to give passengers in both terminals six options to clear security. That should help reduce the crowding that sometimes now happens during peak travel windows. Crews are also building new security exit corridors for passengers arriving at ONT. Instead of exiting alongside security lanes, we’re building modern, dedicated corridors that will include some fun features and will make navigation easier for everyone passing through ONT. Additionally, family restrooms near the screening areas are being upgraded to create easier access for people with disabilities.
Work began in March 2025 and will be done over 18 months, with an anticipated completion date in fall 2026.
Construction is taking places in phases when passenger volumes are low, so there will be as few disruptions for travelers as possible. Generally, that means work will happen between midnight and 3 a.m.
Crews will be adding two additional screening lanes in Terminal 2 and one in Terminal 4 along with building new security exit corridors and family restrooms in both terminals.
Once this project is complete, passengers can expect even faster wait times at TSA security screening areas. New exit corridors will help relieve crowding in the area while offering some fun surprises. And nearby family restrooms will be more accessible.
If you're traveling during this construction period, we recommend allowing some extra time to clear security. That means padding the two-hour window for domestic travel and three-hour window for international travel a bit more to ensure you make your flight!
Travelers can also consider taking advantage of programs such as TSA PreCheck and CLEAR to help speed up the screening process. You can register for both programs at kiosks located to the left of the escalators in both terminals.
During construction, the family restrooms and the mother’s room near the screening area will be temporarily closed. Passengers are encouraged to use family restrooms on the first floor of the terminals or the general restrooms on the second floor, past the screening area.

Airport Drive Upgrades
Flying through ONT is So Cal. So easy. Now driving to the airport is about to get even easier!
Crews are repaving Airport Drive in front of Ontario International Airport, while also doing some underground infrastructure improvements along the way. This will ensure safe and smooth navigation in the area and ensure ONT is ready for the future.

Staff at Ontario International Airport Authority knew it was time to upgrade Airport Drive, so they took a proposal to the OIAA Board of Commissioners. The board approved the $11 million project and, after a competitive bidding process, awarded a contract to Sully Miller Contracting Company on February 27, 2025 to complete the work.
Pavement is being removed and replaced across all lanes of Airport Drive.
While the roadway is torn up, crews are taking advantage of the chance to also install a new underground pipeline for recycled water, which will allow ONT to use recycled water for future irrigation projects around the airport campus.
Work began in March 2025 and is being completed over 10 months in sections.
Upgrades are happening throughout Airport Drive, in front of ONT, from Haven Avenue east to the Cucamonga Channel.
There will be occasional lane closures and detours during the construction, so drivers should allow extra time to get to the airport campus or to travel in the area through early 2026.
When the project is complete, everyone who uses the roadway can expect a smooth route for years to come, while future landscaping projects will be more sustainable and affordable for ONT.

Navigation & Signage Upgrades
We want your entire experience at ONT to be So Cal. So Easy. So we’re making upgrades that will make it even easier for you to navigate your airport!
We’re replacing and upgrading signage throughout Ontario International Airport. That includes new wayfinding signs in both terminals. It also includes installing a giant new Insta-worthy ONT sign in a prime spot.

Following a design study that started in 2020, Ontario International Airport Authority determined new signage was needed throughout the ONT campus.
After a competitive bidding process, the OIAA Board of Commissioners awarded a contract to Sign Industries, Inc. on May 23, 2024 to replace navigational signs in both terminals. And on December 17, 2024, the board awarded the same company a contract to install ONT's new monument sign.
Navigational signs in both terminals and the big ONT monument side were all installed in 1998 and had not been upgraded since.
Signs in Terminal 2 and in Terminal 4 are now being taken down and replaced to provide clearer direction to gates, amenities and other key locations in the airport. They’re also being upgraded to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility guidelines and other applicable state and local codes.
The monument sign is being replaced to elevate the airport’s identity at the main entrance. The new ONT monument sign will include 10-foot-high letters with rows of mountain facades and color-changing LED lighting.
Work on navigational signs in the terminals is underway and will continue in phases through spring 2026. Construction is taking places in phases when passenger volumes are low, so there will be as few disruptions for travelers as possible. Generally, that means work will happen between midnight and 3 a.m.
Creating and installing the monument sign will take roughly nine months and should be complete by the end of 2025.
Navigational signage is being upgraded throughout both terminals.
A new monument sign is being installed just south of the intersection of Airport Drive and Archibald Avenue.
Once all signs in terminals are replaced, it will make navigation throughout both terminals easier for passengers, workers and everyone who comes through ONT — including those with disabilities.
Once the monument sign is replaced, it will help establish a strong sense of place for ONT and the broader Inland Empire.
Some areas of the terminals will be briefly blocked off and there will be minor detours near the current monument sign while installation takes place.

The HUB Logistics Complex
Your So Cal, so easy airport is helping to make goods movement throughout our region even easier.
The HUB @ Ontario International Airport is a logistics complex that a private developer is building on 215 acres ONT owns just east of the airport. When complete, the complex will include nine warehouses totaling 4.3 million square feet of logistics space that will support goods movement, generate revenue and create jobs for the region.

Following a competitive bidding process, and in keeping with the city of Ontario’s long-term development plan, ONT in late 2021 awarded a 55-year lease to CanAm Ontario, LLC (a subsidiary of Newport Beach-based McDonald Property Group) to develop The HUB.

- CanAm Ontario is building warehouses that range in size from 200,000 to 930,000 square feet each. These nine warehouses are being leased to companies to support the region’s ever-growing logistics needs.
- The HUB is one of the first large-scale developments in Southern California to incorporate innovative materials that reduce how much concrete the project is using, generating 44,000 fewer tons of carbon than traditional warehouse centers of similar size.
- CanAm will also be making public improvements to all major roadways in the area to facilitate access to the complex and ease traffic flow for all residents.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the project took place on July 18, 2024. Four of the nine buildings are expected to be complete and leased out by the end of 2025, with the remainder expected by mid-2026.
The HUB is being built on a 215-acre plot of land ONT owns east of Haven Avenue, between Jurupa Street and Airport Drive. The area isn’t suitable for airport expansion, since it’s cut off by Haven Avenue, or to build homes, due to noise and safety concerns. But it’s a good fit for bolstering the city of Ontario’s development plan, which calls for more light industrial development.
The complex is surrounded by corporate facilities for many global brands and is adjacent to ONT, which is home to international cargo carriers. The HUB also is situated near two rail lines and between the intersection of three major highways: the I-10, I-60 and I-15. And it’s less than 45 miles from the Los Angeles and Long Beach port complexes.
The HUB complex will bring new jobs to Ontario and support fast, reliable goods movement throughout the region and beyond.
The city of Ontario also will see property and sales tax benefits thanks to property improvements and employees working at The HUB who’ll be spending money at nearby businesses. And even before tenants move into these warehouses, ONT will start to see steady annual revenue in the form of lease payments, which will benefit everyone who relies on the airport.
During some phases of construction, there will be minor impacts on adjacent traffic and airport operations. Crews are working together closely to ensure minimal disruptions and safe and efficient construction.
