TSA Expansion
Expanding TSA Security for Faster Screening
What's Happening & Why
Crews have finished adding two additional screening lanes in Terminal 2 and are adding one in Terminal 4, to give passengers in both terminals six options to clear security.
Crews have also built new security exit corridors for passengers arriving at ONT. Instead of exiting alongside security lanes, we've added modern, dedicated corridors that include some fun features in both Terminal 2 and Terminal 4.

Family restrooms near the screening areas have also been upgraded to create easier access for people with disabilities.
Timeline: Work began in March 2025. Terminal 2 upgrades were fully complete as of July 24, 2026. Terminal 4's exit corridor and upgraded restrooms were complete as of August 17, 2026, while the additional screening lane is scheduled for completion in fall 2026. If you're traveling in T4 during this construction period, we recommend allowing extra time to clear security.
Benefits: Once the entire project is complete, passengers can expect even faster wait times at TSA security screening areas. New exit corridors are helping to relieve crowding in the area and make navigation easier for everyone passing through ONT while offering some fun surprises. And nearby family restrooms are more accessible.

Plan Ahead
If you're traveling during this construction period, we recommend allowing extra time to clear security. That means padding the two-hour window for domestic travel and three-hour window for international travel a bit more to ensure you make your flight!
Travelers can also consider taking advantage of programs such as TSA PreCheck and CLEAR to help speed up the screening process. You can register for both programs at kiosks located to the left of the escalators in both terminals.
Thanks for your patience as these upgrades are underway!
