Ontario International Airport Posts October 2016 Statistics

ONTARIO, Calif. – Dec. 1, 2016 — Posting its first monthly passenger traffic statistics since assuming airport control on Nov. 1, 2016, the Ontario International Airport Authority reported airline passenger traffic increased 3 percent in October 2016 compared with October 2015. In October 2016, the airport served a total of 391,996 passengers compared with 380,584 in October 2015.
Domestic passenger traffic in October 2016 totaled 381,971, an increase of 2.7 percent over 372,096 in the same month last year. International passenger traffic increased 18.1 percent from 8,488 passengers in October 2015 to 10,025 in October 2016.
For the first 10 months of 2016, ONT served 3,499,925 passengers, virtually unchanged from 3,499,904 passengers in the same period in 2015.
The top four airlines in October 2016 based on passenger count were Southwest Airlines (228,555), American Airlines (70,642), Alaska Airlines (35,172) and United Airlines (32,989).
Air cargo freight tons handled increased 1.8 percent from 44,460 tons in October 2015 to 45,264 tons in October 2016. Through the first 10 months of 2016, air cargo freight tons handled jumped 12.6 percent from 382,853 tons handled in the January – October period in 2015 to 432,059 tons in the same period this year.
